Powerups:

Health: The player's lives increase by 2 (player turns magenta for 1 second)

Invincibility: For 10 seconds, the player turns cyan, the player can not take damage, and any enemy that the player makes contact with dies automatically.

Speed:  For 10 seconds, the player turns yellow,  the player's speed increases by 5,  and the player's fire rate increases by x2. 

*The player can not use invincibility and speed powerup together, nor can the player use two of the same powerup together (excluding health powerups). In those scenarios, the player must wait until after the current powerup wears off*

  • The poison enemy follows the player and if the enemy makes contact with the player (while the player is not invincible ):
    • The enemy explodes (the points are not collected and the number of enemies defeated is not incremented.)
    • The player takes damage
    • The player is stunned; the player turns red and the player's speed is decreased by 5 for five seconds.

Each level has a unique objective displayed on the pause screen.  A set number of powerups are randomly spawned each level

  • Level 1: 
    • Objective: The player must kill at least 15 of the 25 spawned poison chaser enemies.  *The player cannot be stunned more than 10 times or there will be an automatic game over * 
  • Level 2: 
    • Objective: The player must kill at least 20 of the 25 spawned enemies (24 poison chaser enemies and 1 'boss'). *The player cannot be stunned more than 5 times or there will be an automatic game over *

  • Level 3: 
    • Objective: The player must kill all 25 of the 25 spawned enemies (24 poison chaser enemies and 1 'boss'). *The player cannot be stunned at all  or there will be an automatic game over *
